The Woman on the Beast – Babylon’s Final Deception Unveiled

Revelation 17:3–5 – “So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.”

John’s vision of the woman on the beast is one of the most sobering and striking images in the book of Revelation. This woman is richly adorned, powerful, and alluring—but she is also drunk with the blood of the saints. She represents Babylon, the great system of false religion that unites church and state, mixes truth with error, and leads the nations of the world into deception.

This prophetic picture is not about one person but about a global system—a counterfeit religious power that looks attractive outwardly yet is filled with corruption, idolatry, and rebellion against God. In this final conflict of history, the woman on the beast seeks to ride the world into submission under her influence, preparing the way for the ultimate showdown between Christ and Satan.

Understanding who this woman is, what the beast represents, and how their union functions is crucial for God’s people today. For those with eyes to see, Revelation 17 shines a piercing light on Babylon’s final deception—and equips the faithful to stand firm on truth when the whole world marvels after her.
