But who is she? What does she represent? And why does God dedicate an entire chapter—and more—to exposing her?
📖 Revelation 17:5 – “And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.”
This is no minor symbol. This woman represents the greatest end-time religious deception, a power that appears spiritual on the outside but is fueled by fornication with the kings of the earth and intoxicates nations with false doctrines.
This is not just prophecy—it’s a call to wake up, come out, and stand apart.
A System Cloaked in Holiness, Driven by Rebellion
Mystery Babylon is not merely a future threat—it is a present reality, woven into the fabric of global religion and politics. She is not called Mystery without reason. Her power lies in her ability to look righteous while leading souls into spiritual darkness.
This system pretends to be the Bride of Christ but is, in truth, an unfaithful harlot. She seduces kings, deceives nations, and covers her abominations with robes of wealth, tradition, and false sanctity.

Mystery Babylon is not just a prophetic code—it is a continuation of ancient rebellion, stretching from the Tower of Babel to modern-day religious empires. To understand her influence today, we must uncover her origins, how she evolved into a global power, and how Scripture pinpoints her identity with stunning clarity.
1️⃣ Ancient Babylon – The Blueprint of Rebellion
Babylon was the birthplace of organized rebellion against God—starting with Nimrod (Genesis 10:8–10). He sought to unify the world under one language, one city, and one tower to reach heaven without submission to God.
📖 Genesis 11:4 – “…let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name…”
🔎 This was the seed of spiritual confusion, man-made religion, and false unity—all traits inherited by the Mystery Babylon of Revelation.
2️⃣ Babylon’s Spiritual Descendant – Rome
The Bible often uses beasts and women symbolically to represent powers and religious systems. In Revelation 17, the woman sits upon a scarlet beast, decked in gold and purple—symbols long associated with Rome.
🔹 The seven heads are said to represent seven mountains (Revelation 17:9)—a reference to the seven hills of Rome.
🔹 The woman wears purple and scarlet—the very colors of the Roman Catholic clergy.
🔹 She is drunk with the blood of saints—pointing to centuries of persecution.

4️⃣ Her Power Is Rooted in Deception

Babylon’s Power is Built on:

1️⃣ The Woman
📖 Revelation 17:3 – “And I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast…”
🔹 In prophecy, a woman represents a church. (Jeremiah 6:2; 2 Corinthians 11:2)
🔹 A pure woman symbolizes God’s true church. (Revelation 12)
🔹 An impure woman symbolizes a corrupt church system.
🔎 This woman is a spiritual harlot, claiming to represent Christ while committing spiritual adultery with the world’s powers and pagan practices.
2️⃣ The Beast She Rides
📖 Revelation 17:3 – “…full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.”
🔹 Beasts represent kingdoms or powers. (Daniel 7:17, 23)
🔹 The scarlet beast is the political power that carries the false church.
🔹 The church rides (controls or partners with) the state, just as the Papacy once controlled kings and nations.
🔎 This shows an unholy alliance between religion and political power—exactly what occurred in papal Rome.

🔹 The city of Rome is famously built on seven hills.
🔹 This woman sits atop them, ruling from that city.
🔎 No other power fits all these clues—this is Rome: both the ancient empire and the Papal power that followed.

🔹 History reveals that the Roman Church persecuted millions during the Dark Ages—true followers of Christ who refused to accept her authority.
🔹 The Inquisition, crusades against the Waldenses, Albigenses, and other faithful groups were carried out under the banner of religion.
🔹 She became intoxicated with blood, not in defense of truth, but in pursuit of power.
📖 Matthew 24:9 – “Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.”
2️⃣ Blasphemy Against God

Her Crimes Are Many

🔹 Her fall is repeated twice for emphasis—her judgment is certain and total.
🔹 She is spiritually desolate, filled with demons and unclean spirits.
🔹 This is not just a symbolic fall—it is the end of her influence and dominion.
📖 Jeremiah 51:8 – *”Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed: howl for her…”
2️⃣ She Is Judged with Plagues

This plea reveals something powerful: God still has people within Babylon—sincere believers caught in systems of false worship, man-made traditions, and spiritual compromise. They may not yet see the deception, but once light shines, the call becomes clear.
🔹 To remain in Babylon after truth has been revealed is to share in her guilt.
🔹 To ignore the call is to risk receiving the same plagues.
🔹 But to respond—to come out—is to stand with Heaven.
🚨 It is not enough to simply recognize the false system. We must separate from it—with our hearts, our worship, and our obedience.

God’s remnant are not called to blend in.
